Ovengkol is a coarse-grained wood that is visually very similar to European walnut. This wood is often used to build instruments such as acoustic guitars. It has a slight alternating twist and more or less a regular colour striation. The heartwood is yellowish to olive-brown, the sapwood whitish-yellow.
